Almost Missed ItI just returned from a brief vacation, or rather, time of solitude with my wife and a few new friends. As we began our journey from Broken Arrow, OK. to the Cumberland Mountains of Southwest TN. we were filled with anticipation of a much needed time of peace and quiet, not to mention some new ideas and inspiration that was to be provided by our friends there. Over half-way through the week, just following my recovery from the long drive, I already found my thoughts drifting toward the drive home and the eminent return to routine. Where was the peace? How disappointed Iwould have been if I allowed myself to stay in this mindset and miss what God had to offer even for just those few days. All around me was awe-inspiring beauty. There was not another soul in sight and here I was looking past the very thing I sought to enjoy. Fortunately, my thoughts did turn to the matters at hand. Important things like, gathering fresh eggs right from the coup, picking fresh vegetables from the garden and enjoying some time to play my guitar simply because I like to play it, not to mention the peace only a mountain view that is shared with someone you love can bring. When we said our meal prayer that night, eating the very things we gathered that day, I thanked God for putting at our fingertips the very things we need and helping us to trust Him to provide. I guess the moral of the story is in the title of this blog…. I almost missed it. Today, I will pray to my Lord to help me live each moment deliberately and without hesitation, for He will provide.
